Christianity is not a religion where we work to earn a right standing with God. The core of Christianity is being restored to a right relationship with God through knowing Jesus.
Ever felt like something was missing from life, or that something is wrong with life? It’s true: something is missing and something is wrong, and the solution is not in our hands. It’s in God’s.
We were created by God to live in a relationship with Him. The problem is, we decided to live for ourselves rather than for God. This is called sin. Because of sin our lives are not right (Galatians 5:19-21). The worst part of all is that we’ve offended God and will receive his punishment (Ephesians 2:1-3) if this condition is not made right.
But God wasn’t willing to let us go. He sent His Son Jesus as the solution to our need (John 3:16; Romans 5:8). Jesus became man and died on the cross to bear the punishment that we deserve from God and to open the way to a relationship with God (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Are you living in relationship with God? If not, you need to respond to God’s offer of His son Jesus. First, truly admit that you have turned away from God, and acknowledge that you need His help (1 John 1:9; Luke 18:9-14). Second, put your trust in Jesus as the only way to be made right with the Creator you have turned away from (John 14:6). Third, decide to live for Him instead of yourself from now on (Matthew 16:25). You may want to pray something like this:
“Lord, I was made by you and for you, but I’ve been running my own life. Thank you for not abandoning me, but loving me and sending Jesus to die for me. I need a relationship with You. Right now, I turn from my way of life and put all my trust in Jesus Christ to pay for my sin and give me a relationship with You, both now and forever.”
